Maquila: A Tale of Two Mexicos is an excellent 45 minute overview of unfair wages, unsafe working conditions, and human rights violations that are central to the day-to-day reality of women and men working in the U.S.-owned maquiladoraslocated at the Mexican border.

Documenting the Struggle in the Maquiladoras: A Panel Discussion and Women Worker Testimonies

                       Moderated by Elvia R. Arriola, Fellow, De Paul Humanities Ctr.

Latina feminist legal scholar Elvia Arriola will describe her documentary work with maquila women in Mexico and introduce the workers who volunteer with the CFO to develop strategies for surviving the abuses in the maquiladoras.  

Other speakers will include labor, feminist and human rights scholars or activists from the De Paul University and Chicago communities.
