SANCTUARY FOR IMMIGRANTS

More and more places of worship are saying NO to ICE raids and offering protection to refugees and undocumented residents.

Historically, “sanctuary” is an ancient practice rooted in the struggle against injustice. Today a congregation that says “we offer sanctuary” is following the leadership of the affected community.

Sanctuary congregations propose living in our diverse communities without fear. A 2018 Report on sanctuary estimated over 1100 places of worship and at least 40 coalitions throughout the U.S. as participants in the Sanctuary Movement.
