What is the status of gender justice at the border today?

You are invited to come and learn about what working women are doing for gender justice in the maquiladoras along the Texas-Mexico border. Our friends at Austin Tan Cerca de la Frontera (ATCF) have organized a panel with several speakers representing the activists of the Comité Fronterizo de Obreras and staff who are training women in gender empowerment through Proyecto GEMA (Genero y Empoderamiento para la Mujer en Accion).  Presenting through the support of Austin Sanctuary Network will be Carmen Zuvieta and Hilda Ramirez, immigrant residents living in Austin who will talk about their struggles for justice in their encounters with the American immigration system of detention and deportation.

This is a bilingual workshop event with simultaneous translators on site that will include opportunities to comment and to share ideas with the speakers in small breakout groups.

Date and Time: Sept. 3, 2022 from 12 noon to 3 o’clock, Friends Meeting of Austin, 3701 Martin Luther King Blvd.
