The Border Chronicle, an email newsletter on Substack, is an excellent source of up-to-date news and analysis about the U.S.-Mexico borderlands. It is produced by long-time border journalists Melissa del Bosque and Todd Miller, who are currently working out of Tucson, AZ. Click here to learn more about the Border Chronicle and some of their recent work. Topics in the past few weeks have included “America’s Gulag,” a review of a recent exhibition by visual artist David Taylor that explores the infrastructure of incarceration and border surveillance, “The Mass Deportation Handoff,” an analysis of the transition from Biden to Trump, and “A Walk on the Border the Day After the National Emergency Declaration,” which highlights the contrast between the current administration’s hyperbolic rhetoric and the daily life on the actual border. This is excellent writing and very valuable independent journalism of interest to academics, activists, and engaged people who want to understand what is going on at the border. The Border Chronicle is supported by reader subscriptions and we hope that some Women on the Border readers will want to subscribe.
