Women on the Border has received an appeal from the lawyer who helped “Djaili” (a pseudonym), get asylum in the U.S. following the persecution and torture of her for being in a lesbian relationship in Cameroon.

Djaili was recently awarded permanent legal residence.  Under international law she can now bring her children to live with her in the U.S.

It’s going to be an expensive venture transferring the children from Cameroon to the U.S.   Because Djaili was so violently persecuted in Cameroon she can’t go there directly to get the children.  She would lose her asylum if she returns to Cameroon.  So the best way to get the children is for them to be taken to Senegal, and then picked up there by Djaili.  The hope is to get this all accomplished by summer 2022.
