Our History

Women on the Border was founded in 2001 to support the empowerment of women working in the NAFTA factories (maquiladoras) at the U.S.-Mexico border.

In recent years, as U.S. policy has become more hostile than ever to migrants, workers, and people of color, Women on the Border has sought to promote scholarship and activism calling for freedom, justice and human dignity.

According to Mediaite, he explained that agents cannot enter private spaces without a warrant. He told viewers to look for the words United States District Court and a judge's signature, and said they can ask officers to slide the order under the door.If there is no judicial warrant, he said, you can leave the door closed and say, "I do not consent to your entry."He also reminded people that they have the right to remain silent. If ICE stops you on the street, you can ask, "Am I free to go?" If the answer is yes, walk away calmly. And speak to a lawyer before signing anything or making any decision about your immigration status.Those are rights that apply to everyone on American soil.The timing matters.
